In my development work, I prioritize social responsibility. I provide many features of my apps for free and offer complimentary access to users in embargoed countries with limited purchasing options. While I do implement subscription models, I ensure that all features can also be unlocked with a one-time purchase, accompanied by unlimited updates to break today's trends. Additionally, many of my earlier apps are available completely free of charge.

My Work

This app series is my proudest achievement, boasting over 260,000 downloads across multiple languages and app stores. It aids users in learning new languages by presenting the most common words in each language. The app supports 31 languages and is free to use, with all pro features unlockable through a single lifetime purchase.

While the app is simple to navigate, it also caters to power users with various configurations and practice types. Its features include ten different practice modes, customizable notifications, a collection of 3,000 of the most common words with multiple definitions, and over 100,000 contextual examples across all languages. Additionally, the app offers natural-sounding pronunciations, progress syncing between devices, schedulable notifications conjugations (in select languages), categorization of words into 100 topics, and access to over 90 progressively translated books (in select languages).

I leveraged AI and machine learning to generate accurate and realistic pronunciations, validate and refine translations, develop example dialogues, and filter out inappropriate content.

I have worked in this role full-time for over four years, currently serving as the lead developer responsible for both development and design. My responsibilities include maintaining the web portal, two hybrid applications for iOS and Android, and several back-end systems.

DoEntry is one of the most comprehensive journaling and self-tracking applications, designed with both power users and regular users in mind. It aims to help individuals reflect, form habits, and enhance their mental well-being. I have chosen to make this app completely free because I believe in its potential to positively impact users' lives.

The app offers a wide variety of customizable templates for daily check-ins, stress relief, habit tracking, and fluid intake monitoring. Users can create their own templates, charts, goals, and reminders. Additionally, the app syncs via Dropbox, and all backups are end-to-end encrypted. It provides different views for statistical charts, images, maps, time tracking, search functionality, and throwbacks.

I worked on building GradBay for two years as the sole developer before transitioning to a full-time job. I developed GradBay from the ground up using MongoDB, Redis, and React.js, taking full responsibility for all design and development tasks, as well as client communications. GradBay is still under active development and currently has over 185,000 registered users from more than 2,200 universities and over 17,000 video profiles.

GradBay is a platform that connects graduates and companies, operated by a non-traditional agency. It allows candidates to upload videos and highly specific profiles that employers can filter, ensuring preferred details are visible while avoiding discrimination. The platform features chat, an interview scheduler, a CRM system to track various interview stages, and automated management for acceptance and rejection letters, which are immediately communicated to candidates and can be previewed from a unified dashboard. Employers can also request custom video responses, which candidates can later attach to their profiles.

This project was my honors project aimed at making location-based open data more accessible, meaningful, and publicly available, for which I received the award for Best Honors Project. A significant part of my work involved building a platform and mobile apps that enable organizations, councils, and individuals to share and explore location-based data with minimal management and upfront setup.

Organizations had two options for posting data: they could either link to their data files and define their dimensions and display options, including update intervals, or manage their data directly on the platform. The platform allowed for custom map markers based on specific parameters, as well as free-text and self-defined properties. Users could explore all countries and cities with at least one location, access the data via the API, and subscribe to updates on various types of data.

Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, I was unable to secure enough councils and organizations to gain traction, leading to the decision to shut down the service on AWS after the free educational credit expired.

I started working on FrameIt as the solo lead developer and dedicated about one year to the project before transitioning to my full-time job. I developed a complete custom frame builder that allows users to customize the width, height, frame style, mat border, mat colors, glazing, and table stand. This tool enables customers to visualize the finished product with their images and pricing in real time, supported by a custom-built order management CRM powered by Stripe. The project is still active, having successfully produced over 4,500 custom frames.

As the name suggests, OnlyFacts is an app featuring over 116,000 curated facts from various sources. I developed this app and website, collecting data in less than one month through open sources and AI-driven categorization and summarization. My primary intention was to help users disengage from more addictive platforms like TikTok and Instagram by providing engaging, interesting, and actionable facts within an infinite-scrolling timeline that mimics the well-known swiping interface.

The facts are categorized into 60 different topics and sourced from 132 reputable sources. The app is fully searchable, supports scheduled notifications, works offline, and is completely free. It aims to enhance cognitive function, boost motivation, enrich conversations, add fun to users' lives, and, most importantly, encourage users to step away from TikTok.

I served as the lead developer on ATOM (Audience Builder), a tool designed for a marketing agency to provide custom tracking solutions and more accurate statistics. The service routed all selected campaign links, triggering various pixels on a single page with customizable tagging options, including campaign, social media platform, project, and account-level statistical charts and retargeting features.

ATOM enabled the agency's clients to use their own domains and ad accounts across all social media as the tracking page. The service was capable of handling 1,000 trackings and redirects per second, achieving up to 22 million redirects on its busiest day during my tenure as developer. I ceased my involvement with the project when I transitioned to my full-time job. Ultimately, the project was shut down, likely due to restructuring and ongoing challenges with the outsourced development process following my departure.

A simpler, streamlined version of DoEntry, designed for everyday users, focusing on minimal taps to track moods, emotions, and activities. It features a user-friendly timeline that provides easily digestible historical data, along with heatmap calendars and pie charts that illustrate what brings you the most happiness and what affects you negatively, all with adjustable date ranges.

Flashcards Made Simple is an intuitive flashcard manager app featuring Dropbox synchronization, sets, tags, links, custom fields, strength markers, starring, public sharing, and an offline-first design. It offers various practice types, custom spaced repetition, printing, and export options. I decided to make this app free after successfully monetizing my most popular word apps, which were based on this original concept.
